A Day in the Life of a 21-Year-Old Engineering Student Athlete Pursuing Financial Freedom

Name: Sokeiprim Braide

College: University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada

In a world where time is the most valuable currency, structuring each day with purpose is the key to success. As a 21-year-old engineering student athlete, my life revolves around three core pillars—academics, athletics, and financial literacy. Each day is an opportunity to grow physically, mentally, and financially, bringing me one step closer to my goal of financial freedom.

Mornings: The Foundation of Success (7:00 – 12:00 PM)

The way I start my morning sets the tone for the rest of my day.

  1. Morning Self-Care Routine
    • Devotion & Quiet Time: I begin each day in prayer and reflection, grounding myself in faith and gratitude.
    • Morning Stretches & Hydration: Mobility exercises wake my body up, followed by drinking water to rehydrate.
    • Grooming: Personal hygiene and self-care help me feel refreshed and ready to tackle the day.
  2. Track Practice & Recovery
    • As a student athlete, training is non-negotiable. Each morning, I push my limits on the track, refining my speed, endurance, and agility. Post-workout recovery ensures my body stays in peak condition.
  3. Pre-Class Preparation
    • Before heading to lectures, I take time to review notes and mentally prepare for the academic challenges ahead.

Academic Focus: Classes & Post-Class Productivity (12:00 – 3:30 PM)

Engineering classes demand my full attention and problem-solving skills. From lectures to labs, I remain engaged, knowing that each concept learned brings me closer to my professional goals.

After classes, I prioritize:

  • Lunch & Refueling – A well-balanced meal replenishes my energy.
  • Class Review & Assignments – Reinforcing what I’ve learned keeps me ahead of the curve.
  • Rest & Relaxation – A short break helps reset my mind before the evening grind.

Evening Routine: Growth & Development (7:30 – 11:30 PM)

The evening is when I shift my focus to personal and financial growth while maintaining a disciplined fitness regimen.

  1. Dinner & Study Session – A second focused study session reinforces learning and helps me stay on top of assignments.
  2. Workout & Physical Well-being – My personalized workout schedule ensures I remain strong and conditioned for both athletics and overall health.
  3. Night Self-Care Routine
    • Grooming & Skincare: Maintaining hygiene and self-care routines for a refreshing end to the day.
    • Social Connection: Taking time to talk to friends and family strengthens my relationships.
    • Devotion & Reflection: Ending my day in gratitude, prayer, and reflection.
  4. Financial Education with Mentor (1 Hour)
    • One of the most crucial parts of my day is learning about financial literacy. Through mentorship, I gain insights into investing, wealth-building, and strategic money management, ensuring my long-term financial success.
  5. Planning for the Next Day
    • Before closing the day, I map out tasks for tomorrow, ensuring I remain organized and efficient.

The Bigger Picture: Why This Routine Matters

Every decision I make today is an investment in my future. Whether it’s excelling in engineering, performing at my peak as an athlete, or securing financial independence, my daily routine is structured to maximize growth. The discipline I build now will set the foundation for a life of success, freedom, and fulfillment.

In the end, success isn’t just about working hard—it’s about working smart, staying consistent, and always striving to improve.
